When 8 students play, each starts with 11 tiles drawn face down at Split. That opening draw takes 88 tiles, leaving 56 in the middle. Each time someone calls Peel, all 8 players draw 1 tile. If nobody calls Dump, the bunch reaches 0 tiles after 7 Peels, making Bananas live. Every Dump puts 1 tile back and takes 3, which removes 2 extra tiles from the bunch.
The 16 students not racing at the table resolve challenges. When someone calls Bananas to finish the game, the judges inspect that player grid word by word. Having outside judges keeps the table moving fast and settles spelling disputes without pulling players away from their own grids.
The mistake to avoid
The mistake is to divide the 144 tiles of one pouch between separate smaller games. A standard match requires the complete bunch on one table, so running multiple simultaneous games requires 3 separate pouches.
