Grab the right spiky thing before anyone else

Spiky Dastards

Hands collide over the middle of the table as everyone lunges for the right spiky figures the instant two cards flip.

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 43 players

Five spiky rubber figures sit in the middle of the table, waiting for the split deck to turn up a fresh pair of cards. Each flip demands an instant grab for either the matching figures or the missing ones.

No spelling slows this down, so every player acts at once. A right grab earns a card and a wrong grab costs you one back.

How a game unfolds

Set up once

The five figures go in the middle. Split the deck into two piles and reveal the top card of each.

Read fast each flip

Each card shows one or two Spiky Dastards. If the two cards show one or two in total, grab those figures. If they show three or four, grab the ones NOT shown.

Win and lose cards repeats

Every right figure grabbed earns a card. Every wrong grab costs one.

Most cards wins ends it

When the cards run out, whoever holds the most takes the game.

What makes it its own game

Worth knowing before you open the box

The spikes are real enough to earn the game its 14+ age rating, and ten of the sixty cards come with rounded, nubby spikes - the rules have you pull them out to start, then mix them back in for a different style of play.

Who it suits

Those pointed spikes explain why this grabbing game is rated for ages fourteen and up. Hands dive hard toward the center, so players who want a gentle, contemplative contest will find this too frantic. Groups that love sharp reaction speeds and high-tension races will thrive here.

Before your first game

Set the five figures right in the center so nobody has an unfair reach. Pay close attention to the card count on each flip, because seeing one or two figures means grabbing them, but three or four means grabbing what is absent. Walk through that switch slowly for the first few flips until the reversal clicks.
